CUNY Lehman College is a senior college of the City University of New York (CUNY) located in the Bronx, New York. Originally established in 1931 as the Bronx campus of Hunter College, Lehman became an independent CUNY college on July 1, 1968, and was named in honor of Herbert H. Lehman, a former New York governor, U.S. senator, and philanthropist. With an enrollment of approximately 13,300 students, Lehman is one of the most diverse campuses in CUNY and in the nation, serving a predominantly Latino and minority student population in the Bronx. The college offers over 90 undergraduate and graduate programs across arts and sciences, education, business, health sciences, and social work. Lehman's Lightning athletic teams compete in the CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC). The college is recognized for its commitment to community engagement, urban education, and social mobility for first-generation and working-adult students across the Bronx.
