The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) is a public comprehensive university located in Duluth, Minnesota, founded in 1947 as a campus of the University of Minnesota system, with roots tracing to the Duluth Normal School established in 1895. Serving approximately 9,200 students, UMD offers more than 90 undergraduate programs and 30 graduate programs through its colleges of liberal arts, science and engineering, education and human service professions, business and economics, fine arts, and medicine.
