“A UConn education in the heart of Connecticut's fifth-largest city.”
The University of Connecticut Waterbury Campus is one of four regional campuses of the University of Connecticut, offering the full strength of a flagship public research university in an accessible, commuter-friendly urban setting. Established in 1946, the Waterbury campus serves the greater Naugatuck Valley region, providing Connecticut residents with a more affordable and geographically convenient gateway to a UConn degree. Students benefit from the same faculty credentials, academic standards, and curriculum as the main Storrs campus, with classes held in a modern facility in downtown Waterbury. The campus specializes in bachelor's degree programs across eight fields of study, including Business Administration, Business Data Analytics, and Urban and Community Studies, and serves as a feeder institution where students complete their first two years before transferring to the Storrs campus to finish any of over 110 majors. A new four-year nursing pathway, supported by a five million dollar investment and a dedicated Nursing Simulation Center, is expanding hands-on health professions education locally. The Husky Prep Academy bridges local Waterbury Public School students directly into UConn credit-bearing coursework, strengthening regional workforce pipelines. With a student body of approximately 745 students, UConn Waterbury offers an intimate classroom experience without sacrificing the resources of a major research university. Students have access to UConn's Center for International Students and Scholars (CISS), career services, over 250 Education Abroad programs, and UConn's I2A Innovation Lab. The campus is ideally located for students who commute from the Waterbury metro area, with strong ties to local industry and proximity to Hartford and New Haven employment markets.
