Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) is a public community college founded in 1909, making it one of the oldest community colleges in California. Located on a stunning mesa overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Santa Barbara, SBCC is consistently ranked among the top community colleges in the nation and is a former Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence winner. The college serves approximately 17,000 students across credit and noncredit programs and offers a wide range of associate degrees, certificates, and transfer pathways to UC and CSU campuses. The Vaqueros athletic teams compete in the Western State Conference. International students represent approximately 3% of enrollment, drawn from around the world to study at one of California's most scenic and academically acclaimed community colleges. SBCC is particularly known for its programs in English as a Second Language (ESL), marine technology, interior design, and the arts, and maintains exceptional articulation agreements with UC Santa Barbara and other four-year institutions.
