Middlesex College, formerly known as Middlesex County College, is a public community college located in Edison, New Jersey, serving the residents of Middlesex County in central New Jersey. Founded in 1964 by the Middlesex County Board of Elected Freeholders, the college adopted its current name in 2021 as part of a comprehensive rebranding to better reflect its modern identity and broader community mission. Middlesex College enrolls more than 15,000 students annually—representing over 64 countries—across a diverse array of associate degree, certificate, and continuing education programs in liberal arts, business, health sciences, STEM, and career and technical education. The Middlesex Colts compete in the Garden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) and NJCAA in basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, cross country, and tennis. The Edison campus features modern instructional facilities, the Middlesex College Foundation, performing arts programs, and a student services center. The college serves a richly multicultural student body reflecting the diversity of central New Jersey and maintains strong partnerships with local employers and four-year universities including Rutgers, Kean, and Montclair State.
