“A small performing arts conservatory in Southern California granting an AA in Performance, integrated with The Young Americans touring company.”
The Young Americans College of the Performing Arts (YACPA), formerly California Pacific College of the Performing Arts, is a small private conservatory in Corona, California, in the Greater Los Angeles area. Located at 1112 Olympic Drive, the college is the academic arm of The Young Americans — a long-running international performing-arts service organization founded in 1962. YACPA grants a two-year Associate of Arts in Performance with concentrations in vocal, dance, or acting. The college is unique among US community-college-categorized institutions because it is a tightly integrated conservatory: students train in voice, dance, and acting while simultaneously serving as performing members of The Young Americans, touring globally and performing in roughly 40 shows per year across four countries during their two-year program. The curriculum couples technical performance training with core academic coursework, with the goal of producing well-rounded artists ready for professional musical theatre, touring companies, and performance careers. Admission is by audition only — applicants must first audition for and be accepted into The Young Americans before they can enroll in the College Program. IMPORTANT: In 2025 The Young Americans organization announced that the College of the Performing Arts will close at the end of the Spring 2025 semester due to accreditation challenges. Prospective international students should not apply, and current students should consult the college regarding teach-out plans. Profile data here reflects the institution as it operated through Spring 2025.
