“UT System research university in East Texas with six professional colleges and 90+ degree programs.”
The University of Texas at Tyler (UT Tyler) is a public research university in East Texas and a member of the 14-institution University of Texas System. Since joining the UT System in 1971, the Tyler campus has grown into a broad-spectrum university of roughly 11,600 students across seven colleges, offering over 90 programs at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. Nationally, US News ranks UT Tyler among both the top 100 public undergraduate nursing programs and the top 100 public undergraduate engineering programs — unusual combined strength for a school of its size and price point. UT Tyler is built for students who want affordable access to a research university without giving up hands-on learning. The College of Engineering, now with over 1,000 undergraduates between Tyler and the Houston Engineering Center, offers bachelor's degrees in mechanical, electrical, civil, and construction engineering. The School of Nursing is one of the largest public-nursing schools in Texas with more than 3,100 students across pre-licensure, RN-to-BSN, MSN, DNP, and PhD tracks. The Soules College of Business, Arts & Sciences, Education & Psychology, and the School of Health Professions round out the academic portfolio, and a Ben and Maytee Fisch College of Pharmacy + School of Medicine plus dental school anchor UT Tyler Health Science Center in Tyler. Campus life is centered on a 260-acre main campus with a lake, apartment-style residence halls, and an active Patriot athletics program (17 NCAA Division II teams). International students represent roughly 60+ nations, and the campus sits 90 minutes east of Dallas, giving students close-in access to major Texas employers while enjoying a much lower cost of living than the DFW metroplex.
