“Continuing and professional education rooted in Springfield College's Humanics philosophy — developing spirit, mind, and body for careers in human services.”
Springfield College-Regional, Online, and Continuing Education is the professional and continuing studies division of Springfield College, a private university founded in 1885 in Springfield, Massachusetts. The main institution, originally established as the YMCA School for Christian Workers, pioneered the Humanics philosophy — a mission to educate students in spirit, mind, and body for leadership in service to others. This continuing education arm extends that mission to working adults and non-traditional students across multiple regional campus locations in Massachusetts and other states, as well as fully online formats. The division offers bachelor's degree completion programs in Business Management and Human Services, along with graduate programs including the Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Master of Business Administration (MBA), and Master of Arts in Human Services. Programs are designed for working adults; most classes are offered on a weekend-intensive format (two weekends per month), making them highly accessible to full-time professionals seeking career advancement. Undergraduate tuition is $515 per credit hour, with approximately 76% of students receiving some form of financial aid. With a total enrollment of approximately 421 students (fall 2023), the division has a predominantly part-time student population (333 part-time vs. 88 full-time) reflecting its focus on adult learners and career changers. The most popular areas of study are community organization and advocacy, early childhood education, substance abuse counseling, and business management. These programs align closely with the main Springfield College campus's historically strong reputation in health sciences, human services, and physical education — a tradition that dates to the college's invention of basketball by alumnus Dr. James Naismith in 1891.
