Randolph College is a private liberal arts and sciences college located on a historic 100-acre campus in Lynchburg, Virginia. Founded in 1891 as Randolph-Macon Woman's College, it became coeducational in 2007 and was the first women's college in the South to be granted a Phi Beta Kappa charter. With roughly 630 undergraduates and 90 graduate students, Randolph offers an intimate, close-knit community where students are on a first-name basis with their professors and can take leadership roles as early as their first year. Academically, Randolph is best known for its distinctive TAKE2 curriculum, in which students take two classes at a time in seven-week sessions instead of the traditional four-course semester. The college offers more than 40 majors across Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees, as well as select graduate programs in education, creative writing, theatre, and arts leadership. Every student receives a $2,000 RISE (Randolph Innovative Student Experience) grant to fund research, internships, creative projects, or other experiential learning.
