“Equipping men and women to serve Christ through ministry, mission, and the Word.”
Ozark Christian College (OCC) is a private evangelical Christian institution founded in 1942 and located on a 60-acre campus in Joplin, Missouri. Established to prepare men and women for vocational Christian ministry, OCC has grown from a founding class of 16 students into a respected Bible college enrolling approximately 700 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. The college's mission is singular and purposeful: equipping graduates to serve as preachers, missionaries, worship leaders, youth ministers, children's ministers, and Christian educators. Over 90% of OCC graduates enter vocational or volunteer ministry following graduation. All academic programs deeply integrate Bible and theology study, making OCC distinctive among American institutions of higher education. The academic experience at Ozark Christian College is intensive and faith-centered. Students encounter rigorous coursework that combines biblical scholarship with practical ministry training through internships, field placements, and active campus ministry projects. OCC's flagship partnership with Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) enables students to pursue a dual bachelor's degree — one from OCC in ministry and one from MSSU in a complementary field — providing versatile preparation for ministry across diverse contexts. In 2024, Lincoln Christian Seminary was integrated into OCC as Lincoln Seminary at Ozark Christian College, expanding graduate-level ministry training. The college holds accreditation from both the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE). Campus life at OCC is shaped by Christian community values, with a strong emphasis on fellowship, service, and spiritual formation. Housing is available for all unmarried students on the compact 60-acre campus, and the social culture centers on Christian community rather than Greek life or traditional party culture. Athletic programs compete in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Division II. The campus is described by students as welcoming, tight-knit, and spiritually vibrant. Joplin, Missouri is a mid-size city that offers affordable living, diverse church communities, and robust ministry practicum opportunities across the four-state region.
