Mott Community College is a public two-year institution founded in 1923 as Flint Junior College — one of the oldest community colleges in Michigan — and renamed in honor of industrialist Charles Stewart Mott in 1973. Enrolling approximately 6,500 students, Mott offers programs in nursing, automotive technology, criminal justice, welding, computer information systems, business administration, and liberal arts transfer pathways. The college's automotive technology program is MOPAR and Chrysler certified, aligning with the region's manufacturing heritage. Mott's men's basketball program achieved national excellence, winning four NJCAA Division II national championships in 2003, 2007, 2008, and 2012. The college competes in the NJCAA and is a member of the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Eastern Conference. With open admissions and affordable in-district tuition, Mott has served the Flint community through generations of economic change.
