“The largest private women's college in the Southeast, blending a tight-knit sisterhood with the resources of North Carolina's Research Triangle.”
Meredith College is a private women's liberal arts college founded in 1891 and located on a 225-acre wooded campus in the heart of Raleigh, North Carolina. With just over 1,200 undergraduate women and a coeducational John E. Weems Graduate School, Meredith combines the personal attention of a small college (student-faculty ratio around 10:1) with the opportunities of a city that is part of the Research Triangle, one of the most dynamic education and tech corridors in the United States. The undergraduate curriculum spans the liberal arts and includes roughly 38 majors plus licensure, pre-professional, and graduate programs, with particular strength in psychology, biological sciences, business administration, interior design, education, child development, social work, and nutrition. Student life at Meredith is defined by a distinctive 'sisterhood' culture and a century of traditions, including the week-long Cornhuskin' festival, Big Sister/Little Sister programs, Stunt, Class Day, and Founder's Day. The Honor Code shapes both classroom and residential life, and almost every student participates in on-campus organizations, service projects, or leadership roles. Undergraduate women live in six residence halls and The Oaks apartment-style community; on-campus housing is effectively guaranteed for every unmarried undergraduate. Meredith's location in Raleigh is a major part of the experience. The campus sits on Hillsborough Street, a short drive from downtown Raleigh, NC State University, Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill, and the internship-rich Research Triangle Park. Undergraduates who want engineering can pursue a 3+2 dual-degree program with NC State, earning one degree at Meredith in chemistry, computer science, or mathematics and a second in engineering at NC State. International students are welcomed with dedicated advising, merit scholarships of $20K–$27K, and a supportive small-campus environment.
