“A close-knit liberal arts college in the Endless Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania.”
Keystone College is a small private liberal arts institution nestled on a scenic 276-acre campus in the Endless Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania, near the communities of La Plume and Factoryville in Lackawanna and Wyoming counties. Founded in 1868 as Keystone Academy and chartered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the college has more than 150 years of history offering career-focused, personalized education. With an undergraduate enrollment of under 900 students and a 12:1 student-to-faculty ratio, Keystone offers an unusually intimate academic environment where professors know students by name and invest deeply in their individual growth. Academically, Keystone is organized into two main schools: the Turock School of Arts and Sciences — which spans communications, the arts, biological and physical sciences, mathematics, and social and behavioral sciences — and the School of Professional Studies, which houses business, management, technology, and education programs. The college offers over 50 career-focused majors at the bachelor and associate levels, as well as select graduate programs. High-enrollment programs include Business Administration, Elementary Education, Criminal Justice, Sport and Fitness Management, and Applied Psychology, all designed with internship and experiential learning components that connect classroom work to real-world careers. The campus itself is a distinctive asset: 170 of its 276 acres are preserved natural woodland featuring seven miles of hiking trails and a freshwater stream, creating an unmatched setting for environmental science, ecology, and outdoor recreation students. Campus life is shaped by Keystone's strong community spirit, with athletics, clubs, and traditions that bring together a diverse and tight-knit student body. The nearby city of Scranton offers additional cultural amenities, employment opportunities, and entertainment, while the surrounding Endless Mountains region provides a peaceful backdrop for focused study and outdoor adventure.
