Fort Hays State University (FHSU) is a public university founded in 1902 as the Western Branch of Kansas State Normal School, located in Hays, Kansas. The fourth-largest of six Kansas state universities, FHSU serves approximately 15,100 students and is the largest university in western Kansas. FHSU is particularly notable for its extensive virtual college, one of the nation's largest online programs, which attracts students from all 50 states and over 60 countries. The Tigers compete in NCAA Division II athletics as members of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA). Victor E. Tiger is the beloved campus mascot.
