“PERMANENTLY CLOSED — Eastern Nazarene College ceased all academic operations in May 2025.”
IMPORTANT: Eastern Nazarene College (ENC) permanently closed in May 2025 and is no longer accepting applications or enrolling students. The Board of Trustees voted to authorize closure proceedings on June 22, 2024, and voted unanimously for formal dissolution on August 29, 2024. NECHE accreditation ended May 30, 2025. Student records have been transferred to Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU). The 21-acre Quincy campus is in the process of being sold to the City of Quincy. Historically, Eastern Nazarene College was a private liberal arts institution affiliated with the Church of the Nazarene, founded in 1900 and located in the Wollaston Park neighborhood of Quincy, Massachusetts — approximately 8 miles south of Boston. At its peak ENC enrolled approximately 800 students across undergraduate, adult studies, and graduate divisions, offering over 50 programs in education, business, natural sciences, psychology, music, and theology. The college was known for its small class sizes (10:1 student-faculty ratio) and a strong faith-centered community. Enrollment declined by nearly half between 2010 and 2022, reaching only 78 students by November 2024, with operating deficits exceeding $4.9 million in FY2023. Students seeking programs previously offered at ENC should contact Curry College, Gordon College, or Mount Vernon Nazarene University, all of which have established academic alignment programs for former ENC students. For student records and transcript requests, contact MVNU at mvnu.edu/enc or the Massachusetts DHE at mass.edu/enc.
