“Learn More. Earn More. Live More.”
Delgado Community College is a public community college serving the greater New Orleans metropolitan area in Louisiana. Founded in 1921 as Delgado Trades School — named after Isaac Delgado, a New Orleans philanthropist who donated funds for its establishment — the institution evolved through several reorganizations before being officially named Delgado Community College by the Louisiana State Legislature in 1980. Delgado is the largest community college in Louisiana, enrolling approximately 17,730 students across multiple campuses in New Orleans, Charity School of Nursing, and surrounding parishes. The college offers more than 100 associate degree and certificate programs in allied health, business, culinary arts, technology, and liberal arts. Delgado is well known for its Culinary Arts Institute, one of the premier culinary programs in the Southeast, as well as its nursing and allied health programs serving New Orleans's major hospital and healthcare systems. The college draws overwhelmingly from the local Louisiana community, serving a predominantly local workforce, and plays a critical role in rebuilding and sustaining New Orleans's economy following Hurricane Katrina. Delgado provides affordable access to career-ready education in one of America's most culturally vibrant cities.
