College of Western Idaho (CWI) is a public community college serving the Treasure Valley region of southwest Idaho, with campuses in Nampa and Boise. Established in 2007 when voters in Canyon and Ada counties approved the formation of a new community college district, CWI is one of Idaho's newest and fastest-growing institutions of higher education, enrolling more than 21,000 students. The college offers associate degrees and certificates in liberal arts, business, health sciences, technology, and workforce training, preparing students for transfer to four-year universities or direct entry into the workforce. CWI adopted the River Otter (River the Otter) as its official mascot in 2022, reflecting the region's connection to Idaho's natural waterways and environment.
