·Public Community College
College of San Mateo (CSM) is a public community college located in San Mateo, California, in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area peninsula. Founded in 1922 as San Mateo Junior College, CSM is one of the oldest community colleges in California and a proud member of the San Mateo County Community College District alongside Cañada College and Skyline College. The college's beautiful 153-acre hilltop campus offers sweeping views of San Francisco Bay and the surrounding hills. CSM enrolls approximately 9,200 students annually in associate degree, transfer, certificate, and noncredit programs across liberal arts, sciences, business, health sciences, information technology, creative arts, and career technical education. The college is especially well regarded for its strong transfer partnerships with University of California and California State University campuses, and for its signature programs in nursing, biotechnology, and the visual and performing arts. The CSM Bulldogs—named in honor of Rival Goldstone, a real English Bulldog mascot from the 1920s—compete in the Coast Conference and California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA). Located in one of the world's most dynamic economic regions, CSM students benefit from close proximity to Silicon Valley employers, robust internship networks, and exceptional career pathways in technology, healthcare, and business. International students from more than 50 countries choose CSM for its academic excellence, Bay Area location, and strong transfer outcomes.
