Chattanooga State Community College is a public two-year institution founded in 1965 as Tennessee's first technical college and Southeast Tennessee's first public institution of higher education. Enrolling approximately 6,600 students, the college offers programs across nursing and health sciences, engineering technology, business, liberal arts, and criminal justice. Chattanooga State operates the largest engineering technology division and the largest health science division in the Tennessee Board of Regents statewide system. The college competes in NJCAA Division I athletics as the Tigers in the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association, with a women's softball program that won the NJCAA Division I national championship in 2012.
