“A small Free Methodist college in central Kansas where every student is known by name.”
Central Christian College of Kansas (CCCK) is a small private Christian liberal arts college in McPherson, Kansas, affiliated with the Free Methodist Church. Founded in 1884 as Orleans Seminary in Nebraska and relocated to McPherson in 1914, it is the oldest accredited junior college in Kansas and added bachelor's degrees in 1989. The college sits at 1200 S. Main Street on a compact urban-edge campus in a town of about 14,000 in the wheat-and-oil country of central Kansas, roughly an hour north of Wichita. Faith is woven into everything here: chapel, residence-life programs, and a Christian worldview run through the academic divisions, and the school's tagline is 'Unapologetically Christian, Undeniably Different.' Academically, CCCK runs on two parallel tracks. The traditional residential program serves roughly 300-350 undergraduates across about 40 majors organized into divisions including Business, Education, Ministry & Theology, Natural Science, Sport Science & Health, Humanities, Communication, Social Science, and the newer Bradbury School of Manufacturing & Innovation. Most popular majors are Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Elementary Education, Exercise Science, Psychology, and Sport Management. Alongside the residential college sits a substantial School of Professional Education offering accelerated and 100% online associate, bachelor's, and a Master of Strategic Leadership for working adults. Student life is built around residential community, athletics, and ministry. The Tigers field 16 varsity teams in the NAIA's Sooner Athletic Conference (not a Kansas-named conference) and also compete in the NCCAA, with sports including football, basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, wrestling, golf, cross country, track and field, volleyball, cheer, and esports. Class sizes are very small, professors know students personally, and weekly chapel and service trips are central to the experience. CCCK is best understood as a faith-formation-first residential college plus a strong online adult-completion arm — not a broadly secular liberal arts college.
