Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) is a public community college founded in 1958, serving the greater Wilmington and Cape Fear region of southeastern North Carolina. With an enrollment of approximately 23,000 students, CFCC is one of the largest community colleges in North Carolina and offers associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates across more than 100 programs of study. The Sea Devils athletic teams, named since 1970 in honor of the Cape Fear region's maritime heritage, compete in NJCAA Division II athletics. CFCC operates two main campuses — the Downtown Wilmington campus and the North Campus in Castle Hayne — as well as satellite locations serving New Hanover, Pender, and Brunswick counties. The college is recognized for its strong programs in marine technology, healthcare, hospitality, and construction trades, aligned with the economic strengths of the Cape Fear region. As a top-ranked community college, CFCC plays a vital role in workforce development for the Wilmington metropolitan area.
