Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) is a public two-year institution located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, serving the greater Baton Rouge metropolitan area. Founded in 1995 and officially opening its doors in 1998, BRCC was established to broaden access to higher education and workforce training for the residents of the Baton Rouge region. As one of Louisiana's newest and fastest-growing community colleges, BRCC enrolls approximately 8,000 students in associate degree, technical certificate, and continuing education programs spanning business, healthcare, information technology, liberal arts, criminal justice, and skilled trades. The college has a strong emphasis on workforce development and maintains active partnerships with regional employers, hospitals, and government agencies to ensure graduates are career-ready. The BRCC Bears compete in the NJCAA with varsity teams in baseball and men's and women's basketball. The main campus is located on a modern, well-equipped campus in Baton Rouge, with additional instructional sites serving surrounding communities. BRCC is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and serves as an important stepping stone for students seeking transfer pathways to Louisiana State University, Southern University, and other four-year institutions. The college is committed to serving diverse student populations and offers developmental education, tutoring, and student support services to help first-generation students succeed.
