Alabama A&M University (AAMU) is a public historically Black university (HBCU) located in Normal, Alabama, adjacent to Huntsville, and part of the Alabama university system. Founded in 1875 by Joseph Bibb as the Huntsville Normal School, AAMU enrolls approximately 7,300 students and is designated a land-grant institution with particular strengths in agriculture, food and environmental sciences, physics, engineering, and education.
